So if Skeeter couldn’t choose she was very lucky of her form - what if she had ended up becoming a zebra or a heron? Wouldn’t exactly be helpful would it? Peter as a rat couldn’t very well help to control a werewolf and he took much longer to learn the transformation- again being a rat is an obvious clue to his behaviour going forward in the story. Loyal to a fault, looks scary but as both an animal and a man can be a real threat and can turn on a dime emotionally. Sirius being a big scruffy dog again, makes sense. James becoming a stag makes sense proud, noble, posh but still friendly and although calm and still, very powerful. He’d want to be something awesome and tough, like a panther or at least a Fox. I was always unsure about the whole Animagus transformation.ĭoes the wizard/witch themselves choose what creature they can become, or does the spell choose its form based on your personality similar to your patronus?īecause I can’t see Peter Pettigrew choosing a rat. I most certainly don't agree with everything Hermione does (the SNEAK jinx that she placed on the signed parchment for Dumbledore's Army for anyone who betrays them to Umbridge was too much for example) but in this case she was right to do what she did (in situations where your privacy is being compromised like that sometimes drastic actions need to be taken). It might've been harsh but Hermione was right to keep her imprisoned (especially since she served a purpose later in Order when she interviews Harry about Voldemort's return in exchange for her freedom). More likely they would've viewed it as an opportunity to dig up more dirt on Harry in Order (which Rita as an Animagus can do that) and that in turn would've potentially put Sirius at risk of being found and sent back to prison.
